The company was originally started in 2006 as Muma construction company offering only design and build packages to clients. It was
founded by Dandy Matamela, a self-starting entrepreneur and an architectural practitioner with a BAS degree in architecture from the
University of the Witwatersrand. Dandy is a registered member of the South African Council of Professional Architects SACAP).Muma
construction established itself and became known for its innovative approaches and daring yet aesthetically noticeable designs.
Our first practical innovation was an innovative project of converting a house in Naturena using hydraform (self-stacking bricks that
use 30% of cement of conventional bricks and build at 3 times the speed of conventional) worth R100 000 in 2006. Oursecond innovation
the design and construction of a double storey house using ash-bricks (bricks made out of waste ash, yet ten times durable, thermally
active and environmental friendly) in Polokwane worth R1.2m in 2007.
Since then, Muma has become a trusted brand in the design and build of residential projects. Muma is registered with the NHBRC and has
successfully enrolled and completed more than 25 unit dwelling with no claim lodged against it.
In 2008, Muma construction collaborated with CorpMD consulting forming COMU properties to do their first multi-residential development
“Villa Savoye” in Polokwane (17 units townhouse development worth R9m, funded by Business partners). In November 2008, Dandy took formal
employment as the Managing Director of Yeast City Housing during which time; Muma almost went out of operation. In September 2011, Dandy
resigned to focus on Muma construction making a turnover of R460 000.00 within six months of operation.
Muma saw is growth and expansion in 2012, with
the creation of Muma Investments (Pty) LTD,registration
no 2011/145873/07, which was geared towards investing and
developing property. Tshifhiwa Contrast Nemvumoni joined Muma
property investments as a partner bringing with him civil and structural
engineering expertise. He is also a registered member of the Engineering Council
of South African (ECSA).
Muma Investments was awarded the Gauteng Partnership Entrepreneur Empowerment Fund in
2013, where it secured its first property development
project “The Dawn Village” entailing development of 53 units in Pretoria North worth R21m.
The project has proved to be a success with construction completed in record time. To date,
The Dawn Village is a comfortable home to 53 families.
Today Muma is part of the BE MORE Group, a group of companies housing the previously independent
companies namely: (1) Muma Construction (2) Muma Investment (3) Pormat (4) Lavenda Cleaning and Security
(5) Letago Pharmacy . This has created a one stop shop primarily providing complementary services in the
build environment which include architecture,construction, property development, investment,and development
consulting and property management. The group has further diversified its service offerings into cleaning,
security and pharmacy.
